This is a story about identity theft and how I discovered my identity had been stolen. Some of the headaches, the endless paperwork and the things I wished I would have known years ago. I am determined to get back to a FICO score above 720

Equifax FICO Score 663

I am about two months into this process and I have just run my credit report again from the Equifax website. It is a little better than before but quite aways off from my 720 FICO score that I used to have.

My record shows $31,000 in available rotating credit, with a number of late payments to the fraud accounts. I think that the only thing that is bolstering my credit at this point is the amount of time I have had credit history.

My first card was an MBNA Visa card that I signed up for on the campus of San Diego State University in 1992. I have kept this card active and in good standing for almost 15 years now. I have also had a mortgage that I kept current so these late payments are hurting but not killing me right now.
